Despite my inability to find my notes on our activities in August, September, and October, we were doing stuff! As always we were at Bossa every second Tuesday during those months. Some of those nights even had special guest hosts!

We also had a couple classic Guerrilla Poetry Insurgency lyrical ambushes on Dupont Circle! It was so interesting to hear the varied voices on the mic during this politically fired-up year, and poetry is a wonderfully revealing and healing way to express those opinions. We plan to do more outdoor open mics here and there next year, so check back here for blog-posted announcements.

If you are a poet who has open mic experience and has ever wanted to try hosting, talk to Jessica at the next GPI open mic and let her know you’d like to give it a shot. You could try it out as a co-host and perhaps later be called as a sub to take on a night of your own.
